To Wörlitz

by car

Wörlitz is ideally located for a journey by car: you can reach the heart of the Garden Realm in just two hours from Erfurt and Dresden, in just 90 minutes from Berlin and Magdeburg and in just one hour from Leipzig and Halle. What you should know for your journey:

A9 München – Berlin, departure Vockerode
A2 Dortmund – Berlin, departure Kreuz Magdeburg
A14 Magdeburg – Dresden, departure Calbe

We recommend crossing the Elbe with the historic yaw rope ferry between Coswig and Wörlitz.

There is no ferry service in the months of January, February and December or during high or low water. Timetables, fares and current information can be found at Stadtwerke Coswig.

Bus parking Angergasse, 06785 Oranienbaum-Wörlitz (5 min walk to the palace)
Bus parking lot Insel Stein, Erdmannsdorffstraße 228c, 06785 Oranienbaum-Wörlitz (5 min walk to Isle Stein)
Bus parking lot at Wörlitz Brewery, Erdmannsdorffstraße 60 (15 min walk to the palace)

Passengers can also disembark here:
Wörlitz Market, 06785 Oranienbaum-Wörlitz (two short-stay parking spaces directly next to Wörlitz Palace)

Please note:
To ensure a smooth arrival, please note the distances between the car parks and the meeting point for your booked tour. The Eichenkranz and Frederiken Bridge are not accessible to buses!

Through the Garden Realm

by public transport

Wörlitz and the Garden Realm are a perfect destination for long-distance travelers: Simply take the regional train to Dessau main station or the ICE to Lutherstadt Wittenberg. From there, the numerous highlights of the World Heritage Site can be easily reached by public transport.

The Dessau-Wörlitz Railway runs during the season from 23 March to 03 November 2024.

Current timetable at Stadtwerke Dessau

The bus routes 304 and 310, which are marked as World Heritage lines, run every hour and connect Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Wörlitz and Dessau in a circular route without changing buses. The buses run all year round. You can find the route map and timetables for routes 304 and 310 here.

Wörlitz Park – Wörlitz, Neue Reihe stop
Oranienbaum Castle Park – Oranienbaum station stop.
Park Luisium – Dessau Waldersee, Vogelherd stop

The Dessau-Roßlau city bus network takes you to the castles and parks within the city limits. The buses run all year round. Please note the respective public transport timetables of Stadtwerke Dessau.

Use the following lines and stops from Dessau Central Station to reach your destination:

Georgium Palace and Park – Lines 11, 12 and 17, Dessau Puschkinallee/Tierpark stop
Mosigkau Palace and Palace Park – Line 16, Dessau Mosigkau Anhalter Str. stop
Großkühnau Palace and Park – Line 11, stop Dessau Roesickestr.
Luisium Palace and Park – Line 13, Dessau Waldersee, Vogelherd stop

Regionalbahn 50 takes you to Dessau-Mosigkau. The palace and palace park can be reached on foot in 15 minutes.

To plan your trip, please use the INSA website for local public transport in Saxony-Anhalt and in the Central German Transport Association or Deutsche Bahn.

Did you know?

Recommendation for cyclists

Not all gardens, parks and castles can be reached by car or public transport. There is one exception: you can only get to the forest park on Sieglitzer Berg, far away from the towns and roads, peacefully nestled in the beautiful Elbe meadow landscape, by bike or on foot. A truly magical place of “forest solitude”.

Yes, the best way to explore the entire Garden Realm is by bicycle.
