A touch of melancholy surrounds Princess Louise’s house in W\u00f6rlitz. Because here she once found a private but lonely refuge and lived far away from the many visitors to the famous W\u00f6rlitz Palace, far from the Dessau court, far from her husband. It is all the more beautiful that the Princess House is now enlivened and filled with stories and the joy of our guests as an exhibition centre \u2013 all year round. <\/p>\n

History<\/div>

A Grey Monastery<\/h4>\t\t\t\t\t\t

In 1789\/90, a neo-Gothic building was erected not far from W\u00f6rlitz Palace as the main residence of Princess Louise. She lived in this \u201cGrey Convent\u201d from November 22, 1790 until her death in 1811. <\/p>\n

The building, designed by Friedrich Willhelm von Erdmannsdorff, originally had five window axes. The first subsequent extension was added in 1804\/05 according to designs by Carlo Ignazio Pozzi: a long gallery that allowed the princess to go for a walk and stay dry even in bad weather. A guest of Princess Louise<\/h4>\t\t\t\t\t\t

Remains of the original wall decorations and even some of the princess’s furnishings can still be seen today.
